Brimbank/Melton Post School Destination Data - Vulnerable Groups Years 10-12
The Brimbank/Melton LLEN undertook a 3 year Research project mapping the destination data of Year 10,11&12 students regarded as being in the vulnerable cohort who left Government secondary schools from the Brimbank/Melton network for the years 2012, 2013 & 2014. The research tracked the post school destinations of Early School Leavers and Year 12 Completer's from the cohort covering:
- Indigenous students
- Refugee students
- Students with a Disability
The research was supported by all 10 Government secondary schools in the Brimbank/Melton area that had a Year 10-12 student enrolment. The aggregated 3 year data will now inform planning in order to support students transition form Secondary Schooling to Desirable Post School Destinations. A Desirable Post School Destination being defined as University, TAFE & Further study, Apprenticeship or Full Time Employment.
What the aggregated data indicated:
- Indigenous students - 62% who completed Yr 12 had a Desirable Destination whilst 58% who left school prior to completing Yr 12 had a Desirable destination.
- Refugee students - 79% who completed Yr 12 had a Desirable Destination whilst 46% who left school prior to completing Yr 12 had a Desirable destination.
