Youth Community Gateway Service - Victoria University
Youth Community Gateway is a service to Youth, aged 15-19 who are disengaged from education and training. Provides career and course information to young people who are interested in exploring their future options. If a course at VU is chosen, support will be given to their application into the course. If VU does not fit the bill then other TAFES and training institutions will be explored. Assistance given to developing a study pathway plan so that young people can be shown the bigger picture and have confidence that they can reach their goals if they stick at it. This is a free service that is easy to access.
Contact Tricia fidler, the Youth Community Gateways Adviser, Youth Transitions, Victoria University at Visy Cares Hub in Sunshine (9091-8223) to book an appointment and have a one on one session to work out where they want to go and how they can get there.

Youth Connections – (Djerriwarrh Employment & Education Services)
Youth Connections (YC) is a flexible, individualised and responsive service to assist young people who are most at risk of disengaging from education or training and therefore not attaining Year 12 or equivalent and not making a successful transition to further study, training or work.
Who is eligible for Youth Connections: To participate in YC, a young person must be identified as being at risk of not attaining Year 12 or equivalent and at risk of not making a successful transition through school and from school to further education, training or work.
To be eligible for YC, a young person must:
- be an Australian citizen and permanent resident of Australia or on a humanitarian visa (subclass 200, 204, 866 and 851).
- be identified as being at risk of disengagement from education (and therefore not attaining Year 12 or equivalent) and at risk of not making a smooth transition through school and from school to further education, training or employment; and
- be between 13 and 19 years of age
How Youth Connections Can Help?
YC Youth Workers provide assistance to young people to remain engaged or re-engage them with education and/or further training through individual case management to overcome personal barriers.
This assistance may be delivered through one-on-one assistance, group assistance, mentoring, advocacy and/or referrals to external support or specialist services.
Support for indigenous young people and young humanitarian refugees
YC will deliver services to Indigenous and humanitarian refugee communities in a culturally appropriate manner, including the development of support materials which are culturally specific.

Visy Cares Hub
Visy Cares Hub is a one-stop shop offering a diverse range of services to young people between the ages of 12 and 25 years. Operating under the one roof the Hub aims to reduce travel to multiple destinations and provide a seamless service that meets young people’s needs in the Western suburbs of Melbourne
Within the Visy Cares Hub there are 10 different services that all assist young people. If there is a need that cannot be met within the Hub then referrals can be generated to appropriate services. The agencies that are currently residing within the Visy Cares Hub are:

The Backdoor Youth Health Clinic (Djerriwarrh Health Services) – New location!
The Backdoor Youth Health Clinic has been revamped and relocated to the Melton Youth Services building at 193 Barries Rd Melton. Djerriwarrh Health Services and Melton Shire Youth Services have formed a partnership to provide this service to the Young People of Melton and Moorabool communities. It is located next door to Melton Health. The Backdoor Youth Health Clinic is open Thursday 4pm to 7pm.
A GP is in attendance, and together with a nurse and counsellor from DjHS and staff from Melton Youth Services, will be available to assist young people 12 to 24 with general information and support about a range of health issues such as nutrition and body image, sexuality, relationship issues, alcohol and other drugs, contraception, pregnancy tests, other sexual health issues and much more.
Appointments are not essential, Bulk Billing is available, and having a Medicare number is useful but not necessary. The service is confidential and privacy is protected.
