Youth Connections (YC) is a flexible, individualised and responsive service to assist young people who are most at risk of disengaging from education or training and therefore not attaining Year 12 or equivalent and not making a successful transition to further study, training or work.

Who is eligible for Youth Connections: To participate in YC, a young person must be identified as being at risk of not attaining Year 12 or equivalent and at risk of not making a successful transition through school and from school to further education, training or work.

To be eligible for YC, a young person must:

  • be an Australian citizen and permanent resident of Australia or on a humanitarian visa (subclass 200, 204, 866 and 851).
  • be identified as being at risk of disengagement from education (and therefore not attaining Year 12 or equivalent) and at risk of not making a smooth transition through school and from school to further education, training or employment; and
  • be between 13 and 19 years of age

How Youth Connections Can Help?

YC Youth Workers provide assistance to young people to remain engaged or re-engage them with education and/or further training through individual case management to overcome personal barriers.

This assistance may be delivered through one-on-one assistance, group assistance, mentoring, advocacy and/or referrals to external support or specialist services.

Support for indigenous young people and young humanitarian refugees

YC will deliver services to Indigenous and humanitarian refugee communities in a culturally appropriate manner, including the development of support materials which are culturally specific.
