Partnerships

The Brimbank/Melton LLEN’s work is built around partnerships with key organisations and individuals in the community across the business, education and training, government and non-government agency sectors.

These sectors are represented on our Committee of Management so our strategic direction is informed by the experience and knowledge that comes from each of these sectors.

A key to the success of the Brimbank/Melton LLEN as partnership brokers in this space is the fact we are not competing with other agencies in the community for funding from Local, State or Federal governments.  We deliberately do not tender for other funding sources so we can truly be an “honest broker”.

Whether we identify a gap in support to young people or organisations/individuals in the community do, the next step is to get those who can influence change to come together to create an agreed approach to address that gap.

This has been the core work of the Brimbank/Melton LLEN since its inception in 2002 and it continues to be the only community organisation working for the benefit of young people taking this role in the community.  The LLEN model has been adopted nationally through the Federal Government’s Partnership Brokers program, funding LLEN-style programs under this name throughout Australia.  The LLEN program has taken up the Partnership Brokers program in Victoria.

While the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Western Region, Victoria University, local governments and Brimbank and Melton schools have been key partners of the BMLLEN since 2002, we have developed excellent relationships with key community agencies, businesses and peak bodies that ensure any community response to the needs of young people is a coordinated and well developed one.
